Thurs 25th November!

Hi everyone!

So this week has been anouther packed one!!

Last friday we had a event at the lowery Hotel, which is a 5* MEGA posh hotel, my job with 3 others on my course was to greet guests in the main reception, as we were doing this the whole Manchester United Football team with Sir Alex Fergison walked through...!!! it was very very exciting!

This week we have done performance in vocals, we all had to choose a song and perfom it in front of the rest of our course, mine went very well, i was very please, but my vocal coach told me i smiled to much!!!! hehe!
In Drama we are comming up with christmas related sketches and we are performing them at a kids club in Decemeber.
And in dance we are still learning a few different routines to a few songs.

On the 6th of decemeber we have auditions in front of all our different tutors, as they are putting us in mission teams of 3/4's to work in after christmas for this i have to sing 2 songs and do a dance.

Also Yesterday we had to give a 5min talk on a topic of our choice relating to God, or the bible or a concept etc! we've had a week to prep for it. I was really really excited about doinng it. and Mine was called How to change the world in 5minuits.
It went so so well!!! i was so proud of myself! we had some visitors who work for Eden in and they were giving me feed back and it was so positive, i loved it.

Il leave you with that for now!!! :)
hope your all okay

Thurs 14th Oct!

Heyyyy !
I haven't managed to get online for a while, but here is a quick update!

Everything is still going fine, teachings are interesting and challenging, this week we have been looking at evangelism.
The creativeness in the afternoon is good too, i reached all my goals in vocals this week which i was quite proud of! and we are learning a group dance and a solo one, in dance!!! In drama yesterday we pretty much freaked out the whole of the sharston industrial estate and all the message staff, we had to adopt a character of our choice get into that character mind set, then be released onto the estate to interact with "the world" as if it was the first time we had seen it. There were mock up fights with very confused passers by, lots of very very confused looking people!!! I shouted at some chavs because i thought they were people from genetik, turned out they weren't, but thankfully my mate came round the corner pretending to be a bird, which distracted them!!! :)

Last night was another eventful night in the world of Old Trafford. On the news lately its been saying that there is a rapist in our area, and last night some of the youths from youth club got chased my a bloke with a shot gun! Then had a bit of a incident at our house last night that i wont go into to much detail in, but basically had fire works thrown at it, then some random bloke jumping over the 5ft brick wall to try and get in our back door and look at us through the window at about 11pm last night!!!! thankfully we have lovely eden workers that came to our rescue, after the police suggested that it could just be some1 that was confused and thought it was there house....!! do u throw fireworks at your house?/ haha!

Its all fun and games, the youth club last night was amazing! :)

we are getting our Internet installed tomorrow :D yayayayayayyy!

I am coming home for half term in a weeks time :) if you would like to see me book me in now!! i will be making a appearance at church next Sunday!

Prayer points for now:
-Safety on our estate
-for the bloke that was in our garden
-strength, energy and good sleep
-that the Internet goes in okay!

Feel free to ask me questions ! :) i will try and get on here more :)

Sunday 3rd October!

Hii!
Again its been anouther busy week here.
Last Saturday was Lz7's single launch at the Apollo theatre. For those of you who dont know Lz7 are a band, who have realeased a song called This Little Light into the main stream this week, and should be in the top 40 this afternoon. Its all about making Goodness fasionable and God famous. So we were all there at the launch helping out.
Sunday was church and chill out.
Monday we had a Accreditation day, which we have once a month to do our qualification training, and to be given lots of work to do at home. I have ALOT of work to do this year!!! prayers for this would be lovely, as i havent had to write anything sensible for a few years now.!!
Tuesday we had prayers and teaching in the morning at the message, and vocals in the afternoon, and then Alpha at our church in the evening. They give us food ! yay!!
Wednesday, we set off for Wales!! with all the genetiks in the lz7 bus/van thing and had time to play games, bond as a team go on walks that kinda thing. It was funny, everyone was getting excited by sheep, and how small the lanes were, they really wernt that small!!! apparently im such a country girl... hmmm!!!
we came back on friday, and we went food shopping!
Yesterday was saturday, i did some work for my qualification and dyed my friends hair :)

I have a cold... again!!! so prayers for my health would be cool. Beechams power is amazing!
We should be getting our internet installed on the 15th, so pray that all goes through okay.
and just general prayers for my area and stuff too:)

Hope your all well, !! let me know if anyone is actualy reading this???

Friday 24th Sept!

Hey everyone!
So! i will try and fill you in on the last week or so, Sometimes there are things that i wont be able to write on my blog, so if you reading this thinking I'm missing things out that is properly why!!

Last Thursday i came back up to the wonderful world of Manc, and went back to The Message on Friday!
This week has been our first week doing our placements and proper timetable! so my average week looks like this:
Monday- Prayers, Teaching, lunch, General creative workshop, tea, detached youth work on my estate.
Tuesday- Prayers, teaching, lunch, Vocal workshop, tea, Alpha
Wednesday- Prayers, teaching, fitness, lunch, Drama workshop, tea, Youth group at my church
Thursday- Prayers, teaching, lunch, Dance workshop, tea, Eden bus
Friday- refection's, lunch, Free afternoon to rehearse/ sleep!!

SO that is pretty much what i have done this week. We spent sometime meeting the bands that are at the message and hearing their stories, and getting some teaching on how to handle schools missions, in particular the question times, and what sort of questions they get asked.
We also had a worship meeting at our new church this week, and Me and one of my house mates are getting involved and helping out the next two Sundays, then being put onto the leading rota for the next year, which is all very exciting. By the sounds of it, it is pretty much a clean slate to be creative with. very exciting.
Having bible teaching everyday is a bit intense, but is good. Its very weird being back in the classroom and having to do lots of writing, and I've discovered i am not very good at sitting still!!!!
The early mornings are still a struggle, the bus goes at half 7, and some nights we wont be back in till 11pm. So prayers for energy would be really appreciated!!!
I would love to hear from some of the Yeovil lot, so feel free to comment or email me with questions about what I'm doing!!!
we should be getting proper Internet soon!! Ive had a argument with 02 today...!! so it should be on its way! haha!
hope you are all doing well

Tues 14th Sept

Okay, blog number two!
As most of you know, i have been really ill this week, and have ended up back at home with some nasty antibiotics!
which is rubbish i came back on saturday and should go back on thursday, i can not wait to get back up to Manchester.
So I'l attempt to give you a day by day encounter of whats happened since last monday!
Tuesday- Every tuesday first thing, there is prayers with all the message staff. So we went to that. Then we had VIP brunch with all the important people that we need to know, so all the bands, tutors and head of department staff. To try and see what we want to get involved with and chat to the right people! i think its sometimes called networking!!! Then we had lunch with all of the Eden leaders (http://www.eden-network.org) Then, we spent the afternoon with in yer face theatre group, who do modern day gospel sketches and teach community theatre in Manchester.
Wednesday- We got a lie in!!!!!!!!!! YAY! Then we went into central Manchester for a tour of the city, it is MASSIVE! the trams i swear try to run you over! the arndale centre is amazing! i can not wait for christmas shopping :)
Thurs/Fri- Every month the message have a whole day of prayer with all the staff and random people attached to the message, and because its the start of the new year, they decided to have 2 whole days!! to start with i was like err two wholeee days of prayer... but it was actually really good, had worship and a few different people spoke, and then we prayed for a few different things, and Andy Hawthorne spoke about a few different exciting things that are about to happen at the message!! most of them i cant go into on here, but they are EXCITING! and well worth praying about.

Also!! we've been asked to do a little bit of promoting! one of the messages bands
LZ7 is realesing a song into the chats on the 26th of september, they arent just a band but a movement. Its called the "shine your light campaign" and its getting young people to shine their light with random acts of kindness all across the UK.

On a plus note i have not got lost at all this week!
Prayers for my health would be good! as i really need to be better asap!

All of the StJames church people, i'm sorry i havent sent you a video of how im getting on yet! the internet in our house hasnt been sorted yet, so i dont have enough connection to send a video, but im working on it! :)

Monday 6 September 2010

Monday 6th September!

Hey Everyone!
So today was Day1 of my two week induction to Manchester.
It has been amazing!!!!
I will try and do a little bit of a catch up of whats happened since Saturday,

We moved in on Saturday, In my house there is Me, a Girl Called Theresa and two girls from Manchester Called Leanne and Becca.
After being in the house about 2 hours, Leanne and Becca went out to a gig, leaving me and T (the 2 Southerners)in the house by ourselves.
After 10Minuit's we realised that the hot water wasn't working...!! ISSUE. we looked for ages for switches and couldn't find any! So we phoned Matt are course leader, and he came and rescued us and showed us how to work the heating system.
Then Sunday morning, we went to our new church St Brides Old Trafford if you want to look it up! We are based on a Eden project on our Estate, so we have 3 other people who live on the estate who go to our church, but they weren't there as they had to go to another church for a friends commissioning. The people were lovely, and i think we are getting involved with pretty much everything straight away.
On our way to church, which is only a few streets away, we turned a corner and witnessed our first house raid, a few police ran past with a heavy metal door knocky down thing!!! so that was interesting! then on the way home from church we got lost...!!!
we went to pizza hut for lunch with our Eden workers which was lovely, then we went to Asda, Our asda is a bit of cultural experience in itself!! its humongous and just so many different people. and we managed to get the wrong bus home, but it was okay!
Then today was are first day at The Message HQ !
Its such a amazing building, with soo many amazing people. We had talks from a few people about different projects we're going to be involved with, and what The Message are planning for the future. There is one particular project i'm really excited for, so would appreciate prayer as i try to decide how i want to be involved. If you want to know more just ask!
We finished early today, so me and Theresa decided to try and adventure to the Trafford Centre. In theory this was fine apart from The Message is in Sharston which is nowhere near the trafford centre!!!! soo we thought a adventure would be fun! and hopped on a random bus and hoped for the best!! it turns out it was right yay! and would be quicker to use that bus in the morning to get there, and managed to change buses to get to trafford centre. I even met a guy who used to live in yeovil on the bus!! crazy.
Trafford centre was AMAZING! SOOOO incredible! i will definitely be visiting there more often. Obviously not spending money though.
Then Me and Theresa came home, and started cooking tea, then all our electrics went out... uhohhhh!!
SO i left T cooking and i went on a mission to find our fuse box, actually couldn't find it anywhere!!!! our house is huge and i searched every cupboard pulled furniture out, and couldn't find it. So T went and asked out next door neighbour where theirs is. Ours wasn't in the same place, but she said that on some of them its outside at the back. Now, this normally wouldn't be a problem, apart from the fact that our landlord has lost our back door key!!!! SO we phoned Matt again!!
So Matt came round, and found are fuse box in a cupboard almost instantly!! but, it wasn't that. Our house it the only house that is actually being rented and that the message don't own or haven't used before. and it turned out that we're on a metre with a card, and we have to go to the little corner shop to top it up with electric!!! SO Matt sorted that out, and we're now running on our emergency £7 !

That's pretty much whats happened so far! My house mates are amazing, they are all properly on fire for God. We are having so much fun. I am truly loving it.
Its still slightly weird being away from home, and knowing how far away everyone is, but this is totally where i am meant to be for now. I might even be getting a northern accent!!! eeek!!

please please please email me at singit_fromtheheart@hotmail.co.uk
or comment on here ! would love to know that you're reading ! :)
Lots of love

Lemons... ?

When life gives you lemons...

make grape juice. Then sit back and watch the world try to figure out how you did it

so when life throws up the unexpected what do you tend to do?
make the most of it?
or dwell in the fact you've been handed lemons when in fact you wanted like grape juice??
maybe the lemon was what you did really want, but didn't know it. maybe it was the kick up the backside that you needed to move on to something better.

So when life hands you lemons do you expect lemons? or do you expect something better like grape juice?

and maybe the lemon is all you want because you don't feel good enough or strong enough to cope with having the grape juice.
or maybe having lemons is a bit of a comfort blanket and you don't feel quite like you without it.
Or maybe the lemon is something that's happened that you've built yourself upon, so to have it replaced with a grape juice you would have to start a rebuilt yourself
which is a scary prospect so would rather stay in the comfort zone of the lemon.

So when you get to the point of having the grape juice, will you tell the world how you did it? or let them wonder around clueless in the lemon world.
Or will you just make the most of having your grape juice and keeping it to yourself before your next lemon comes along.

So i wrote all of the above very late at night, and am not at 11pm the following night gonna try and make sense of it.

When life hands you difficulties(lemons)...

Be controversial face them head on with God deal with them (grape juice), and then when your a better person let the world know how you did it.

:) so let me know if this does make sence?

Beautiful

So living beautifully is something that keeps popping up in my life lately.

Its said that saying "your beautiful" to a girl is the nicest thing you can say, and also if its said to you, it means whoever is saying it really likes you.

But being beautiful doesn't rely upon someones opinion, or it shouldn't at least, and being a beautiful person isn't just about the outside.

So back in march i thought I'd created a new concept of "living Beautifully" and figured this should contain:
- The way you look after yourself and treat your body.
so eating good things, and being healthy, not to much drinking that kinda thing. But also the way you present yourself, i have quite strong opinions on how people should present themselves but I'm not going to go into that now, but think people should care about how they appear in a way of showing respect to themselves.
- The way you treat other people.
in my little plan this was generally being loving towards people, and actually that's just a nice thing to do.
- How you conduct your feelings
SO for me this meant not exploding how I feel all over face book and moaning at every single person possible about how i felt, and instead dealing with why i felt how i felt, and not taking it out on other people.
- Finally.
God time, bible prayer that kind of thing!
also decided killing everyone with kindness was a good plan!

I was quite happy in the knowledge id created this concept and told one of my friends about it... and did it for a while then let it slip...

Then as i was sat in a morning talk at Spring Harvest the speaker started talking about the marks of a beautiful life, turns out a guy called Dr Hans Rookmaaker had come up with the same thing but well, a lot better!
- Friendship
"if we could just be friendlier maybe we wouldn't need so many new activities"
- Humility
-Pace
Jesus wasn't in a hurry
- Place
He knew where he was from
- Skill
had a trade to contribute to society
- Learning
-Fun
Jesus loved life and we should actively seek Joy and fun
So his kinda made a lot more sense, and i thought about this for a while THEN

At my church weekend the topic of the weekend was....
Beautiful church...
and basically what it took a whole weekend to explain was that a beautiful church is made up of:
praise, power and love.
and have time to listen, have praise, have love

After all of this I kind of figured Beautiful living isn't something you can put in a box, or just have one way of doing it. Its possibly more a personal thing, to do with how different people see their own lives and feel about themselves.
Even as I write this it still challenges me actually what parts of my life aren't beautiful, and what can i do about them.

Thursday 10 June 2010

Okay so here goes my first ramblings...
I wanted to write something about the pictures of church.
So last week we had holiday club in St Peters church and the first job we had to do was to transform the church into the crazy fish and chip shop types place it was ment to be!
So after taking out railing, Kneelers, flowers, prayer stool things, and lots of crazy church interior things that were clearly brought in the 60's we decorated with exciting coloured stringy stuff and made it look exciting.

Then on day4 when the church was filled with 30 excited children we had some interesting visitors from the official Church directory putting together pictures of all the churches in the diocese. They said i guess it doesn't normally look like this, someone else said but what should it look like?

This made me think!!!
What do I think that church should look like... and what does it look like?
I went on this fresh expressions course a year or so ago, and basically they said the most effective way of church is to meet people where they are providing something they need.
But keeping everyone happy is trickyyyyyy!

I kind of wondered what all the churches looked like in the church directory, and then wondered why on earth we keep a record of what all the churches look like inside the building? When actually whats beautiful about the church is the people and their hearts. wouldn't it be amazing if we made a directory of what was on peoples hearts.

I find it really hard to stay on subject and started this wanting to talk about pictures of church, how would your church be pictured in the church guide? how would you like it to be pictured?
more importantly what would the pictures of your heart show? and what would you like it to show?
